Province : Barcelona

Escudo de Callús/Arms (crest) of Callús
Official blazon
Catalan Escut caironat: d'atzur, un castell obert d'or somat d'una creu llatina de gules perfilada d'or. Per timbre una corona de marquès.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on December 19, 1997.

The arms show the local castle, called Castell Gotmar or "el Castellet", dating back to 883. The cross above is a traditional religious element, and it's situated on the castle because it reminds the ancient weather-vane of the castle's tower. The lords of the castle were promoted to marquises in 1708, and because of this there is a marquis crown at the top of the arms.
