ROSKILDE AMT
Region : Sjælland
Abolished 2007
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially registered in 1959.
The arms show a mitre, symbolising that Roskilde was one of the earliest seats of a bishop in medieval Denmark, making it one of the most important cities at the time. The roses are taken from the arms of the city of Roskilde.
