Born : March 21, 1929
Deceased : July 4, 2012

Auxiliary Bishop of Regensburg, 1972-2004; Titular Bishop of Abziri

Arms (crest) of Vinzenz Guggenberger

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The tower on a hill in the first quarter is a symbol of vigilance and a reference to the -berg (hill) part of his name. The second quarter shows a sowing farmer. This refers to the gospels and to his ancestry from a family of farmers. The third shows the arms of the Diocese of Regensburg. The fourth quarter, a book with eyes and a crosier, refer to St. Erhard, the second patron saint of the diocese.
