The arms of Nikolsdorf show St. Nicholas of Oláh, archbishop of Gran (now Esztergom, Hungary) who owned a large part of the area during the 16th century. He had a village constructed according to an overall plan that was named "Nikolausdorf" after him, the name gradually changing to "Nikolsdorf" in the course of time.
