Origin/meaning

The arms are quartered, showing the arms of the Abbey in the first quarter and the arms of the County of Toggenburg in the fourth quarter. The abbots were also Counts of Toggenburg.

The second quarter shows the Agnus Dei, symbolising the priory of St. Johann (now Alt Sankt Johann), as he was prior and steward of the surrounding village from 1763. The third quarter shows the family coat of arms of the Angehrn family.
