Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on August 10, 1950.

Olofström was founded as a municipality only in 1941, previously it belonged to Jämshög. The whole area belonged historically to the Villand district. The only known seal of the district dates from 1524 and shows a pair of pliers and a hammer. The hammer was used in the new arms of the city. The roundels are taken from a local smithies stamp used since 1735.
