VRANSKO
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on November 1, 1868. The new design was adopted in 1995.
The arms show a crow, which is a canting symbol (vrana in Slovenian). The original grant from 1868 mentions the trunk, but not the species. In the present arms the trunk is described as from a juniper. The name of the town is based on the legend that says that the region was once a lake, that was dried up, and that on the dried area crows gathered.
