PONT DE VILOMARA I ROCAFORT

Escut caironat truncat: 1r. d'argent, 3 rocs d'atzur malordenats; 2n. de gules, un pont gòtic d'or de 9 arcs movent de la punta. Per timbre una corona mural de poble.
Origin/meaning
These arms have been officially granted on 24th May 1984.
The first partition shows the canting arms of Rocafort (three chess rooks Azure on Argent; this heraldic element is named "roc" in Catalan), that has been the traditional chief town of the municipality, but now has remained a little village surpassed by the new one of El Pont de Vilomara, an industrial village created at the end of the 19th century near the ancient Gothic bridge (13th century) over the river Llobregat. It has nine arches, and is represented in the second partition of the arms, symbolizing the new chief town, El Pont de Vilomara, literally "the bridge of Vilomara".
