Origin/meaning
The first quarter shows a group of wagons, as used by the founder of the village, Ignacio de Maya. The second quarter shows the local church founded by Ignacio de Maya. The third quarter shows symbols for the agriculture (cow's head and wheatear) and the textile industry. The fourth quarter shows a book and a torch as symbols for education. The escutcheon shows the lion of the former Kingdom of Léon, and of the province of Nueva Léon, in which the village is situated.
