English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on January 14, 1902 and again on December 15, 1928.
The origin and meaning of the arms is not really known. The arms already date from at least the 18th century, but an original grant is not known. The lion has always been part of the arms and was never a supporter as such.
The crown on the lion has not been uses consistently, in 1769 it was part of the arms, in 1819 it was missing, it returned in 1855 and was confirmed in 1902.
