NO 1839 SQUADRON, FAA
History: First formed in 1943 at Raoyl Naval Air Station Eglinton (HMS Gannet), Northern Ireland, as a Fleet Fighter Squadron for HMS Indomitable with Grumman Hellcats. The Squadron served in Ceylon and disbanded in the Far East in 1945.

The Tiger symbolises service in the Far East. The badge was approved in 1945.
