ACRI
Region:Calabria
Province:Cosenza
Italian | D'azzurro, a tre monti al naturale, uscenti dalla punta, sormontati da tre stelle (6) d'argento poste in fascia. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on September 3, 1952.
The arms show the Montes fertiles; the three hills on which ancient town of Acri was built.
Before 1952 the arms were slightly different, see below. The arms also showed the letters V.A. for "Vniversitatis Acrae", i.e. the Community of Acri. The word Vniversitatis (University) is the administrative name of ancient townships.
