Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 6, 1996.

Kapellen (Kapelle=chapel) is named after a church. As it was not a parish-church, medieval deeds referred to it as a chapel. This church is dedicated to St. Margaret, whose attribute is the dragon. The arms depict the choir of the Gothic church with the dragon. In the east window above the altar, the saint is shown overthrowing the monster.
