PELLO
Region : Lapland
Former province : Lapland
Official blazon
Sinisessä kentässä kolmoisvuori ja sen yläpuolella kolme kuusisakaraista tähteä asetettuina 1+2; kaikki hopeaa.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on May 30, 1952.
The arms show a (Pole) star as a symbol for the northern position of the municipality, as well as some hills as a symbol for the local geography. The three stars refer to the fact that in 1736-1737 the French scientist Pierre Louis Moreau de Maupertuis triangulated the area and came as far North as the present municipality.
