ALTACH

State : Vorarlberg
District : Feldkirch

Wappen von Altach

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on February 20, 1929.

The church in the arms is the local St. Nicholas chapel, already mentioned in 1403. It also refers to the fact that the village only had this chapel for many centuries, but was not its own parish.
The silver bar refers to the Ach river. The oak is a canting element, the name Alt-Ach can be translated as Old-oak. The branch is also taken from the arms of the locally important Sandholz family.
