TROGIR
County :Split and Dalmatia
Official blazon
U plavome na moru srebrni grad, u otvorenim vratima biskup sv. Ivan Trogirski; u gornjem desnom kutu zlatna zvijezda repatica.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially adopted on June 3, 1998.
The arms are based on the old seal. St. John Osorinus or St. John of Trau (Trogir) was the first bishop of Trogir in the 11th century, who was buried in the cathedral of St. Lawrence in Trogir. The figure of the saint in the city gates with a falling star appears already in 14th century seals, and has been used on the arms since late medieval times.
