STADL AN DER MUR
State : Steiermark
District : Murau
Incorporated into : 2015 Stadl-Predlitz
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
Arms granted:The arms were granted on ?.
The arms contain two references to local history; The building in the dexter field is a Salzstadel ("salt barn"). Salt has been a government monopoly since the Middle Ages. At the highroad over the Sölk pass, this Salzstadel was used as a store house.
The sword in the sinister field commemorates a steelworks, owned by the princes of Schwarzenberg, which produced high-quality steels. These were sought after in the whole of Europe for many purposes, e.g. for watch-making, but also for the making of swords.
