Province (Landskap): Uppland
County (Län): Stockholms län
Additions : 1974-1983 Österåker

Vaxholm kommunvapen

Official blason

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1944.

The arms combine the elements of two old seals of the city: the tower from a seal from the 16th century and the ship from a seal from the 19th century.

The fortress tower symbolises the fortifications since the days of King Gustav Vasa. The ship refers to the importance of the city as a harbour.
