HASLACH AN DER MÜHL

State : Oberösterreich
District : Rohrbach

Haslachmuhl.jpg

Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on May 6, 1958.

The oldest seal of Haslach dates from 1373 and the first use of the arms is known from a seal dating from 1472. The arms were for the first time officially granted in 1615 by Emperor Matthias of Austria.

The city wall and castle indicate the importance of the city as a northern border town. The small shield with the rose is the arms of the Lords of Rosenberg, who ruled the city from 1341-1599 as vassals of the Bishops of Passau. The crowned M was added by Emperor Matthias in 1615.
