RATSCHENDORF

State : Steiermark
District : Südoststeiermark (until 2015 Bad Radkersburg)
Incorporated into : 2015 Deutsch Goritz

Wappen von Ratschendorf

Official blazon

In einem gespaltenen Schild rechts im schwarzen Feld ein silberner Balken, links im roten Feld ein auf den Griff gestelltes silbernes Grabscheit.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on October 13, 1954.

The arms consist of two family arms. To the dexter, the arms of the von Walsee family appear, to the sinister the arms of the von Graben family. In the Middle Ages, both of these families were rather powerful and had possessions in all of Southern and Eastern Styria. The von Graben arms are canting, displaying a shovel or spade (graben = to dig).
