The city was founded in 884 by Diego Rodriguez, count of Castille. The bordure (until 2008) and the two smaller shields show the arms of Castille. The town was the capital of Castille-León until 1492. The king in the arms was added during the reign of Henry II of Trastamara (1368-1379). In 2008 the bordure was changed. | |||
