The arms were officially granted on June 25, 2008.

These are the arms of the former Navo municipality.

The previous arms were granted on June 26, 1961.

The arms show a miner's hammer, changing into an anchor. These two symbolise the major industries in town, chalk-mining and fisheries. The wings are a symbol of trade and shipping.
