VERMELLES

Département : Pas-de-Calais

Armoiries de Vermelles

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms are used for a long time, but have not been officially granted.
The bees are a reference to a local story, in which a group of soldiers of King Louis XIV were forced to retreat from the village, when the local priest threw at them. The fleur-de-lis and the label in the chief are the symbol of the Artois region, to which the village belonged.
