The arms were officially granted in 1982.
The division of the shield and the hand holding a bowl, are the symbol of St. Alexius of Rome (also Alexis of Edessa), who is generally depicted as a beggar sitting under a staircase, as according to his legend he lived 17 years in hiding under a staircase.
The upper part symbolises with the green field and the wheat the agricultural character of the village. The green also refers to the forests in the area. The red and silver are also the colours of the [[State of Trier]], to which the area historically belonged.
