Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on December 31. 1937.

The arms refer to the fact that the village has been an important place on the main road through the Tauern mountains. Already in Roman times this was an important road. The horseshoe, the silver bar (road) and the postal horn all refer to this. The letters MPLVII refer to the Roman Millia Passum LVIII or the distance of 58.000 'Roman steps' to Salzburg.
