Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 12, 1960.

The arms refer to a family of medieval nobles, who gave their name to the municipality. They were keepers of the tower or castle at Altirdning, which appears in the arms. The bird is a falcon and a canting reference to castle Falkenburg, which lies in the municipality.
