Province : Lleida
Additions : 1970 Gil, Son, Sorpe, València d'Àneu
Spanish |
Origin/meaningThe arms were granted on December 14, 1989. The arms show symbols for the four former municipalities: València d'Àneu (with its local castle and two straws, "palles" in Catalan, symbol of the counts of Pallars), Gil (symbolised by the local patron saint, St. John the Baptist), Sorpe (symbolized by a chamois) and Son (the cross refers to the local patron saints, Justus and Pastor).
