Origin/meaning
The monumental door represents the gates for the houses made after the Thirty Years War. New imposing farms were built and the opulent doors were created by Italian artists who reproduced the model of Italian architecture of the time. The style is a mix between Baroque and Renaissance. Today, there are only two left in the municipality.
The Roman helmet symbolizes the Gallo-Roman origin of the municipality. A certain Jovin, a Roman general of Gallic origin, fought in Gaul and repulsed several invasions near present Pont-à-Mousson. Appointed consul in 367, he converted to Christianity and died in 370. The name of the village Domjevin may come from Domus Jovinus (the house of Jovin).
