Écartelé : au 1er d’or à trois demi-ramures de sable posées en fasce et rangées en pal, au 2e de gueules à deux bars adossés d’or, au 3e d’azur au sablier d’or, au 4e d’or à la bande de gueules accompagnées en chef senestre d’un casque du champ taré de trois-quart.

Origin/meaning

The arms are quartered and show the arms of three ruling dynasties as well as a sandclock, a symbol of the local watchmaking tradition.

The first quarter shows the arms of Württemberg, the fourth the arms of Baden, and the second the arms of the House of Mousson, who are descendents of the Lords of Bar (hence the canting fish: bars). In the fourth quarter a helmet was added for the local marquisate.
