Origin/meaning
The two hornbeam branches in the chief are canting (charme=hornbeam). The silver and black colours are taken from the arms of the Provenchère and Baumotte families, who both played a major role in the local history.
The chevron symbolises the mountaneous character of the region. The sun and moon refer to the local tradition of watch-making. The twelve rays refer to the twelve hours of daytime.
