Origin/meaning
The arms were adopted on October 14, 1992.
The arms show St. George killing a dragon. St. George is the patron saint of the city.
The arms replaced older arms, datin g from the early 19th century, which were used until 1918.
In June 1865 B. Kene proposed new arms for the city. The arms also showed tow arms, and a bordure with golden coins. The arms were not adopted.
