Origin/meaning
The first three quarters show the arms of noble families associated with the village in the (late) medieval times. These are the Apat (I), Etchacon (II) and Etchepare (III) families.
The fourth quarter refers to the commandery of Saint Nicolas of Apat-Ospital, held by the knights of Saint John of Jerusalem from the twelfth century.
