Origin/meaning
The lion is derived from the arms of the Howerda family, lords of Westerhusen and neighbouring villages in the 15th century. The spurs are taken from the arms of Norden to symbolise the historical relation to this city.
Literature: Leiner, K. : Panorama Norden. Norden, 1972.
