Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 6, 2013.

The arms symbolise with each quarter one of the villages in the municipality; for Wethau a fish (for fisheries and the Wethau river), for Gieckau six bricks (for the six former brick factories), for Pohlitz a grape for viticulture and for Schmerdorf a mountain and star (for its geographical position).
