Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Austria - Österreichische Gemeindewappen |
MATREI AM BRENNER
State : Tirol
District : Innsbruck-Land
Origin/meaning
The arms date from the 16th century and probably were meant to be canting, Ei, meaning egg and Drei meaning three. Whether this is true is no longer known, but the eggs appeared on the 16th century seals of the town and on the arms thereafter.
