The arms were officially granted on April 15, 1931.
The cross (of unknown origin) was used already in the 19th century by the municipality. The three rings, taken from the arms of the medieval Lords of Bürs, were added to distinguisk the arms from other arms with crosses. Literature : Burmeister, 1975
