Administrative division
Costa Rica is divided into seven provinces, which in turn are divided into 81 cantons. The cantons are further divided into 473 districts (distritos).
Heraldry
All cantons use arms, but very few of the cities. The provinces use mainly the arms of their namesake cities and not their own arms.
