Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on January 24, 1996.
The keys are the attribute of the apostle St. Peter, the local patron saint. The colours, Or and Gules, are taken from the royal arms of Catalonia-Aragon, because Mieres was under royal jurisdiction.
