Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on February 18, 1969.
The ibex is the historical symbol of the group of villages in present Vorarlberg which were founded by settlers from Wallis in Switzerland. The seal of these Walsergemeinden is known from 1408 and showed an ibex.
