Origin/meaning

The arms show the arms of the diocese impaled with the personal arms of the bishop.

The cross tells that the cross is essential in following Christ. The red and white rays are symbols of the blood and water that gushed from the side of Christ - the Divine Mercy. The cloth hanging on the cross symbolizes the resurrection of Christ.

The blue background of the lower half symbolizes the Paranaque River in the Bishop's birth town. The salambao," a bamboo water craft used by fishermen in catching fish, articulates the desire of the Bishop to follow faithfuIly the Lord Jesus, who lovingly called and chose him: Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.

The nine fishes symbolize the nine vicariates of the diocese.
