The arms were officially granted on ?
The freguesia owns its name to the local church - St. Mary of the Angels, more commonly referred to as Angels' Church (Igreja dos Anjos). This is symbolised by the wings in the lower part of the arms.
The crown refers to the Royal Decree that founded the village in the 16th century.
The silver bars refer to the former Reguieiro dos Anjos brook that ran through the village and which was used by the local farmers. The creek no longer exists and nor do farmers in Anjos.
