Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1790.
The arms show the statue of the Madonna of Altötting in Bavaria. The village developed around the castle Včelnice, which in 1649 became a possession of the Spanish Count Bartholomäus Paradys de la Saga and when his wife, Countess Hippolita von Lodron was saved after a flood in 1662, he made a pilgrimage to Altötting and devoted his chapel to the Madonna of Altötting and had a copy made of the statue for the chapel. He renamed the chapel Neu Öttingen (or Neuötting) and her son, Bernhard Franz (Bernard František) Paradys de la Saga had 54 houses built around it. This village received town rights and arms. The letters around the Madonna stand for Santa Maria Neo Œttingensis.
Widimsky indicated that the flood happened in 1662 and that the arms were granted by Emperor Ferdinand III. The latter, however, died in 1657 and the town rights and arms were granted in 1790 according to the town website.
In the 1930s Neuötting/Neu öttingen was renamed to Nový Etynk-Včelnice and in 1950 to Nová Včelnice.
