ENVY

Canton : Vaud
Incorporated into : 1970 Romainmôtier-Envy

Armoiries de Envy

Official blazon

  • (fr) Parti d’argent et de gueule, à la fasce d’or brochant sur le tout.

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted in the early 20th century.

Throughout the Middle Ages, Envy was part of the lands of Romainmôtier abbey. The divided silver and red shield is the arms of the abbey. The golden bar refers to the -vy part of the name, meaning way or road. It probably refers to the Roman road that ran through the area.
