USAF BAND OF THE WEST, US AIR FORCE
History: Constituted as Air Force Band, Moffett Field, California, on 24 September 1941. Activated on 1 October 1941. Redesignated as: 39 Army Air Forces Band on 10 August 1942; 539 Army Band on 21 December 1943; 539 Army Air Forces Band on 26 February 1944; 539 Air Force Band on 26 September 1947. Inactivated on 8 August 1955. Activated on 8 July 1959. Redesignated as: Air Training Command Band on 1 October 1991; Air Education and Training Command Band on 1 July 1993; Air Education and Training Command Band of the West on 1 October 1994; United States Air Force Band of the West on 1 May 1997.
