HUNEDOARA COUNTY
Official blazon
Un scut tripartit în furcă răsturnată. În primul cartier, pe roșu, este reprezentat un personaj stând în picioare, ținând în mâna dreaptă un scut oval, cu mâna stângă sprijinind sabia, toate de argint, costumația, scutul și arma fiind specifice luptătorilor daci. În cel de-al doilea cartier, pe albastru, este reprezentat un personaj purtând costum specific împăraților romani, ținând în mâna stângă un document în formă de sul, totul de argint. În cel de-al treilea cartier, pe aur, se află un corb negru ținând în cioc un inel de argint, cu piatră roșie și stând pe o ramură verde de stejar.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on September 27, 1999.
The two characters, Decebalus and Trajan, refer to ancient history, revealing the process of formation of the Romanian people; the raven with a ring in its beak, the coat of arms of the Corvin family, recalls the important role it played in the history of the Hunedoara region.
