Escudo de prata, torre torreada, de vermelho, lavrada de negro, aberta e iluminada de ouro, com porta e janelas gradeadas de negro e acompanhada de dois raios de ouro, o da dextra volvido e em banda e o da sinistra em barra; em chefe, açor de negro, realçado de ouro e animado de vermelho, sustendo nas garras um escudete de azul com cinco besantes de prata. Coroa mural de prata de três torres. Listel branco, com a legenda a negro: “ SANTA BÁRBARA - RIBEIRA GRANDE “.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on November 26, 2004.
The tower and the two lightning bolts are the symbol of the local patron saint St. Barbara.
The chief with the eagle holding a shield is the symbol of the Azores.
