BORGARNES (BORGARHEPPUR)
Incorporated into : 1998 Borgarbyggð
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were adopted in 1964.
The arms show a drinking horn, symbol for the historical Viking settlement of the area, and especially for the hero Egil Skallagrímsson, who lived near the present town of Borgarnes. The wheat ear symbolises the agriculture in the area.
