REGAU

State : Oberösterreich
District : Vöcklabruck

Coat of arms (crest) of Regau

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 27, 1981.

The lower part of the arms is taken from the arms of the Herbsleben family. Jakob Herbsleben built the local church and was of great importance in the Vöcklabruck parish and surroundings from 1483-1504.

The upper part of the arms show the importance of viticulture in the municipality and may also be considered canting. The oldest name was Rebgau, or grape-region.

Literature : Baumert, H.E. : Oberösterreichische Gemeindewappen, Linz, 1996.
