FRESNOY-EN-GOHELLE

Département : Pas-de-Calais

Blason de Fresnoy-en-Gohelle/Arms (crest) of Fresnoy-en-Gohelle
Official blazon
French blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The above arms were proposed in 1996, but I have no idea whether these are adopted by the municipality.
The municipality historically belonged to the Avesnes-lès-Arras Abbey until 1593. The lower half of the arms shows the old arms as used by the Abbey. The chief shows a canting aspen (Frêne) tree, the name is derived from fraxinetum, Latin for area with aspen trees.
