Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 17, 1975.

Industry is depicted by Belleek Ware and Fermanagh Lace; the historical link is depicted by the crest of the Maguires, ancient Kings of Fermanagh, the Round Towers and the Castle Keep. The wavy bars depict water of Fermanagh's lakes; all these features are drawn together by the golden roundel (taken form the arms of the the Cole and Brooke families) with the Ulster Hand upon it.

The supporters, two winged deer have golden rings, resembling torcs, about their necks from which hang a black fleur-de-lys and a white eight-pointed star. These are taken from the arms of the former Tyrone County Council, and record that two small areas of Tyrone, around Fivemiletown and Irvinestown, were added to the historic County of Fermanagh to form the new District.
